There is the world that we live in and one that we imagine. [This collection of work represents an effort to] inch closer to the latter.

Dialect

Occupancy as a Spatial Language // Presented at IDEC 2023 International Conference (Vancouver, BC)

An interactive furniture install utilizing video to reveal psychological interiors in physical space and establish a spatial exchange of cues and actions. This social manner produces expressions of who we are to build tangible relationships with unoccupiable interiors.

CNC Fabrication, Capacitive Touch, Projection Mapping

Concept - An interactive seating environment capable of listening and responding. This piece spotlights user-defined narratives by reading occupancy patterns and communicating through a nonverbal, visual language.

Dialect - Representative graphic visualizing spatial activation through the unique language of each unit and its response to physical interaction.

Capacitive Touch - Each unit responds to touch through wire mesh surfaces and triggers midi signals to cue projection scenes mapped in MadMapper.

Multiple Orientations
Internal Wiring

Fabrication - Module units with multiple orientations represent the building blocks of language utilized in varying patterns. Internal wires remain visible to communicate an embedded cognition on the interior while its exterior portrays its “personality” through projection.

Occupancy Interaction - Occupancy of different interaction zones triggers projection scenes throughout space.
